Ice Storm 2009

Ice Storm 2009 turned out to be a doozy. We got part of it but not the worst of it, Praise the Lord! Our electricity stayed on the entire time, and we only missed two days of school. Northwest Arkansas got the worst of it this time. Over 120.00 people without electricity in Arkansas alone. The damage stretches from Arkansas to Kentucky with those two states having the most damage. I'll try to remember to upload ice pictures I took later.

Poor Gramma, Mean grand-daughter

My sister called earlier today laughing so hard she could hardly talk. She was telling how our gramma fell while going down the porch steps and hurt her boob. (She only has one due to breast cancer.) Poor Gram! She doesn't like to wear her bra at home and sissie told her if she'd had it on maybe she wouldn't have hurt it. ( Meaning she tripped on it and fell.) It's not funny but gee you don't hear everyday that someone hurt their only boob. If she isn't going to wear a bra she better sling that thing up over her shoulder because apparently that is what she landed on and the only thing she hurt. I love her!!!

Icy Weather

We are supposed to be having the worst ice storm that we've had for years. Eight years and 1 month ago we had the worst ice storm I ever remember. We were out of power for around 48 hours, but some people like my mom, were out for close to TWO WEEKS!!!!!! Some teachers had to get ready for school with no electricity. There is no way I could have done that. My hair would have been SCARY!
It has been raining-sleeting-misting-snowing just about all day. So far our electricity has stayed on although it flickered a few times. The satellite does keep messing up though and for some reason john and kate didn't record. It is the episode showing their new house. I am trying to record it now.
Mamaw is doing better. Still can't understand everything she says. She made sissie call me the other night aroung 10 p.m. She wanted me to come down "right then." I love and miss my mamaw so much. She is much better, but still not the same mamaw. I wanted to call her tonight and see if she was okay in this weather and then I remembered she's not at home. She's still in the hospital. We are hoping she will be admitted to rehab in fort smith this week. At first her doctor said she wasn't "rehabilitatable" . What do doctors know anyway. One doctor told us 3 weeks ago she wouldn't live through the day. Another doctor said her brain was rotting. They are used to old people dying. They don't know what good stock mamaw comes from. Her mother lived to be 106. Her life is in God's hands and not the doctors anyway. I need my mamaw!

My Mother

Rayne has been sick all week, and it hasn't been a particularly good week for me so I called my mom Wednesday to see if she could drive Rayne and I to the doctor. Weellll, during the appointment the next day (turns out Rayne has strep throat) my mother asked Dr. Jackson if he could write her a prescription for thermaflu for her puppies. Of course, she didn't have the name right so when her friend called she had her talk to the doctor. Turns out, she needed tamaflu. AND HE WROTE HER A PRESCRIPTION! I told him that request was probably a first for him but it wasn't. He's been asked for antibiotics for dogs before.
Oh, and he did say he now knows where I get my "craziness" from. Rayne was embarrassed. I used to Mom. Gotta love her. She will do anything for you, but you never know what she may say or do next!
She also spent one day this week sitting with Mamaw in the hospital. Mamaw is her former mother-in-law. Everybody loves Mamaw!
Last year or so, Mom stayed with my step-mom while she was in the hospital. My mom and I both seem to collect people that need help.
On a different subject the Holland's found out their 2-year-old has leukemia! It is supposed to be the most curable. They are at Children's hospital.

I Believe in Miracles

My family has been shown in an up close and personal way how much God loves us and that he still performs miracles today. My mamaw had a stroke on New Year's Eve, supposedly has two blocked heart valves, didn't eat or drink for over a week, was told on Wednesday she wouldn't live through the day, BUT she is alive and getting better and stronger every day!
My brother, David, fasted all day Tuesday, and we have all been praying. God had mercy on us!
Mamaw is really the spiritual leader/example in our family. Everyone loves her and I'm not exaggerating. I have been grieving her death all week and she showed me. She and God decided it's not time for her to die yet.
I want everyone to know the miracle God has performed. It's not medicine or doctors keeping Mamaw alive and healing her. It's our Heavenly Father!! He deserves all the praise and glory and honor.

Bad Blogger

I'm a bad blogger. I can't even keep a blog up-to-date. A lot has happened since my last entry. Christmas was great. I missed Christmas Eve at Grandma M.'s because I didn't feel well, but I took medicine and rested up and was able to go to Paris on Christmas day. I am extra thankful I made it to Paris. We had a good time at Gram and Pop's and then at Rogerland. Mamaw and all the cousins were there. Thankfully we took a lot of pictures because Mamaw is now in the hospital. They think she had a stroke or a blood clot last night. Today she couldn't talk and she was doing the heavy breathing Pawpaw did before he died. I was with her all afternoon. I was so afraid all night that I wasn't going to get to see her again. She was very restless last night and today. When I got there I started talking to her real low and quiet in a soothing voice while I rubbed her head. I told her she didn't need to worry that Mary was ok. I told her she didn't need to do anything but relax, and she slowly started to calm down. I also told everyone else to quit saying things in front of her. I think they were upsetting her. I also kept nagging Uncle David (the doctor in the family) until she got some pain medicine, which she should have had last night. By the time I left after four she had been sleeping for over an hour.

Mary, Daddy, and Little David all are hoping she will come out of it, but I don't know how she can, and I don't know what we are going to do without her. She is one of the kindest most loving people in the world. We've gotten especially close since I have been sick because we have talked on the phone so much the last 3 years. I'm not ready for her to go, but I never will be. I love her so much!!!!
